About the Journal
SCOPE
The Journal of Law & Gender (RDG) is a publication of the area of Philosophy of Law, Department of Political Science and Public Law of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
It will be published every 6 months, and it is directed to legal scholars and other professionals interested in Law, Gender, feminist perspectives and the use of methodologies common of the social sciences. This is why it reaches disciplines of the social sciences such as Legal Sociology, Legal Psychology, Ciminology or Anthropology.
The general framework for the debates is the respect of human rights and a plural and multidisciplinary approach.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
The OJS system Will automatically inform the authors about the reception of the manuscripts.
All articles Will go through a doble evaluation.
• Accept submission (or with slight modifications)
• Revisions required
• Resubmit for review: not ready for publication, but could become so if rewritten and resubmitted
• Decline submission
In a maximum of 4 months since the reception of the manuscript, the editorial board will inform the results of the evaluation: accepted, rejected or if modifications have been requested. The journal maintains communication with the authors only through the OJS platform, from the beginning to the end.
The Journal of Law & Gender adopts the Code of good practices in research of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It also encourages the use of non-sexist language in all publications. It is also recommended to use data disaggregated by sex and/or gender when applicable.
ETHICAL AND GOOD PRACTICES DECLARATION
The Journal of Law & Gender adopts the protocol on plagiarism.
The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) promotes the digital journals in open access, guarantees the dissemination of the scientific knowledge of quality and the respect of high standards in the research.
Thus, the UAB is committed to guarantee the ethics of its publications according to the Code of Good practices in research, and the revision and edition process according to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
EDITORIAL TEAM
The editorial team will be responsible to publish the accepted manuscripts and guarantee the evaluation process regardless of the sex, race, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, country or political orientation of the authors. The anonymization process will help this aim.
The editorial team Will publish the updated information regarding the authors’ responsibilities, the evaluation process and the evaluation criteria used by the external referees.
The editorial team will publish the corrections, clarifications and apologies if necessary, and will not use the received manuscripts without the authorization of the authors.
The editorial team will guarantee the confidentiality of the evaluation process, including the anonymity of the referees and authors, the content of the manuscript, the inform elaborated by the referees and any other communication done by the editorial and scientific committees. This confidentiality will be also secured if the authors wish to ask for clarifications or claims to the journal’s committees and the referees.
The editorial team will act firmly against plagiarism, deleting the affected manuscripts or avoiding their publication, in the shortest period of time.
THE AUTHORS
The authors will be responsible for the content of the manuscript and the revision of the prior checking list published in the web page of the journal.
The authors will be responsible to inform the editorial team of any detected mistake detected in the published articles to introduce the appropriate corrections.
The authors are responsible to guarantee the originality of their manuscripts and not to violate third parties copyrights. In case of several authors, it should be specified the consent of all authors in the publication of the final article.
THE REFEREES
The referees will secure an objective, informed, critical, constructive and impartial evaluation of the manuscript. The acceptance or the rejection of the manuscript can be solely based in the relevance, originality, interest and fulfilment of the style and content rules published within the editorial guidelines.
The referees will also meet the established deadlines. If this is not possible, they should inform in advance to the editorial team of the journal.
The referees will not share, disseminate or use the information contained in the manuscripts under their revision, without the pertinent authorization of the editorial team and the authors.
HISTORY OF THE JOURNAL
The Journal of Law & Gender of the Autonomous University of Barcelona was born in 2024, under the scope of the area of Philosophy of Law, department of Political Science and Public Law. The directors of the journal are Dr. Noelia Igareda and Dr. Marc-Abraham Puig, and the editorial board is composed of Dr. Maria Barcons.
The journal adopted the open access format to reach the widest audience about a conception of the Law that takes into account the gender and feminist perspective, and methodologies of the Sociology of the Law.
